Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM), is a budget commitment the church makes to the ministries of the United Church of Christ. OCWM supports regional efforts such as church camp, youth and young adult ministries, and leadership development through the Missouri Mid-South Conference of the United Church of Christ. Through the United Church of Christ we are involved nationally and internationally in emergency response and aid to those in natural disasters, ongoing justice ministries of advocacy and development, and a joint missionary presence in Global Ministries with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Samuel is a 5 for 5 congregation of the United Church of Christ giving to basic OCWM support and all four special offerings of the UCC: One Great Hour of Sharing, Veterans of the Cross (Christmas Fund), Neighbors in Need, and Strengthen the Church.
St. Louis Association
We provide help for children and families as well as food for the hungry along with the 60 other UCC churches in the St. Louis Association. We support the ministry of several vital agencies in the St. Louis metropolitan community: Joint Neighborhood Houses, Isaiah 58, St. John’s Community Ministry, Union Communion Ministries, Lydia’s House, and Neighborhood Houses.
A Room at the Inn
In 2013 we began helping with the First Presbyterian Church on Delmar to provide a temporary emergency shelter for up to 10 people who are without housing, through the interfaith organization, Room at the Inn. Several times a year, we make and serve dinner and breakfast, provide entertainment and transportation to and from the day site, and spend the night with the guests. It‘s an opportunity to give and to be together with people in need, but more often than not, it’s the volunteers who feel blessed by getting to know the people who come in and the chance to share in their journeys.
Jesus Left the Building and We Followed
From time to time, instead of the traditional worship service, we worship through mission. We leave the comfort of our sanctuary to follow Jesus to where he is already at work in the world.

Youth Summer Mission Trip
In 2013, the congregation sponsored our youth group on their trip to Deer Lodge, Tennessee to volunteer at the Morgan-Scott Project for Cooperative Christian Concerns.
